Hello! Thanks for visiting my website! I recently earned my PhD in Business Administration at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I will join Universidad Carlos III de Madrid as an assistant professor in Fall 2022.
My research focuses on the dynamics of market emergence and disruption as well as the related topics including innovation and entrepreneurship, local communities, and organizational purpose. Many of my research settings are in the cultural, creative, and craft industries (e.g., board games, craft chocolate, movie theaters, Broadway shows, etc.). I use both quantitative and qualitative methods.
My dissertation, which is recognized with the Robert Ferber Dissertation Award by UIUC, investigates the role of local communities in American movie theater industry's evolution from its inception in 1896 to its recent existential crisis induced by the pandemic in 2020. One of my projects received the Best Student Paper Award from the Organization and Management Theory (OMT) Division of the Academy of Management. Drop me a note if you'd like to connect!
